“TÆL are still just bass and drums, with occasional noise soundscapes, perfectly picked humorous samples, and even some free-jazz sax experimentation on the longest track, “Krigserklæring” (Declaration of War). The vocals still channel pain and anger in equal measure, shifting between barbaric grunts in the Man Is The Bastard tradition and piercing, unsettling highs. All the hallmarks of the powerviolence sound are here, from slower, sludgier punishment to fast grinding-violence outbursts, but it never feels like a checklist exercise. The production is excellent for my taste too. It’s dirty and heavy enough to fit the style, but clear enough to let all the shifts, sludgy breaks, and nasty little details shine through.”
